Project aims

The Work and Retirement Research Group aims to:

  • Conduct high quality research into age and retirement issues,
  • To foster engagement and networking between disciplines, and
  • To impact public policy discourse through the provision of high quality evidence-based research.

The Group is particularly interested in the impact of part-time and flexible working policies on workers and employers from a range of perspectives including health and welfare, economics, law and psychology.

The Research Group is developing an extensive programme of work focused on three main objectives:

  • To build a collaborative, university-wide research-based network that draws together an inter-disciplinary group of researchers (at all career stages) to share research in order to facilitate interdisciplinary knowledge and to enable the identification of aligned research interests
  • To develop interdisciplinary research proposals designed to impact and inform public discourse on work and retirement issues
  • To strengthen international discussion and support rigorous knowledge exchange on research and public policy issues on ageing, work and retirement
