Institute Manager Jo Garsden undertakes one-year secondment to the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub

31 May 2017

After 7 years at MICRA, Institute Manager Jo Garsden will be undertaking a one-year secondment to work on the development of the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub. As the Hub’s new Programme Manager, Jo will work closely with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and the Centre for Ageing Better to help Greater Manchester become the first age-friendly city-region in the UK.

‘Jo has been an outstanding Manager at MICRA and is hugely respected and valued by our extensive MICRA networks of people with an interest in ageing societies,’ said MICRA Director Prof Debora Price. ‘We are absolutely delighted at her secondment to the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub and look forward very much to working closely with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and the Ageing Hub in improving the lives of older people.’

Dr Michael Leverentz will be joining MICRA as Institute Manager in Jo’s absence. Mike has a PhD in Biochemistry, coupled with extensive research and management experience. He currently serves as Project Manager for the Manchester Regenerative Medicine Network (MaRMN), where he has been instrumental in the establishment of the network.

We look forward to welcoming him to MICRA and wish Jo the best of success in her new role.
