Research activity
Since 2012 the Network has been developing an extensive programme of work to advance academic research and public policy on ageing and urbanisation, through:
- regular network meetings;
- knowledge exchange;
- symposia;
- publications;
- providing support for emerging researchers;
- developing a major international research proposal.
The Network worked during 2014 and 2015 to disseminate findings from its various activities, collaborating with partners to develop innovative ways of understanding the impact of urban change on older people and new approaches to building Age-Friendly communities.

Research outputs
The International Network on Population Ageing and Urbanisation plays a key international role in the evolving research and public policy debate on ageing and urbanisation.
Members of the network have taken the lead in publishing research on age-friendly issues across a wide range of disciplines – from urban sociology, social policy, geography through to architecture, urban design and urban planning.
Taken together, the network is developing a substantial programme of work looking at the future of older people living in all types of cities.
