MICRA is delighted to congratulate our PhD Researcher, Hayley James on winning the award for the UoM Sociology Public Engagement Prize (PhD).
Hayley was awarded this prize for her sterling work engaging policymakers, think tanks and industry with her PhD findings about how younger people conceptualise and make decisions about pensions. She coined the term ‘threshold adults’ and her work has had increasing press coverage
The contest judges stated that they thought Hayley submitted a strong application which showed how academic research can be of real interest to policymakers and people and organisations outside universities.
